I have a Trek mountain bike - I like the bike but never loved the bike. Now that I have the Raleigh Detour 3.5 I have reclaimed the joy of riding! The brakes are excellent. The construction solid. The assembly from 'The Bike Stand' in Scotch Plains NJ is awesome. This bike is exactly what I was looking for - easy breezy.

I got this bike a week ago after deciding to commute 6.5 miles each way to work. It's a solid bike, fun to ride, and comfortable. After a week I somehow broke the rear wheel axle, but I took it in and they had it fixed that same day for me. I'm really glad I bought this bike from Big Shark.

                Comments:

I just purchased this bike, it was actually a mistake. I walked into a Schwinn store thinking I was buying a Schwinn bike, and on pick-up day it was pointed out to me it was a Raleigh. Oh well. It's hard to make judgments on some of the factors because I simply haven't had the bike long enough. I'm trying to pedal 10 miles a day, and lose some weight. I think I may have been better off with a GIANT FR3 (Consumer Reports liked it), but it cost quite a bit more, and as you have probably surmised, I'm not an avid cyclist. Overall, the bike is attractive, and it is a comfortable riding bike. It seems sturdy when pedaling, and for my purposes, it should do the trick. The store folks told me it will need a tune-up of sorts as I use it more (loose cables, etc.) I would not buy this bike for off road stuff because it's not built for it. But for commutes, pavement, and casual outs, it seems to be the right bike. Based on what I have now after 1 week, I'm giving it 4 stars, and I will have to hope it holds up long term and was a good buy for the money.
